Taryn Maxwell Peine
I’m Taryn Maxwell Peine, writer, wife, knitter, sewer, and compulsive dessert over-eater. I live in Houston, Texas, where I glisten 10 months out of the year and am fast becoming unable to communicate with my fellow city folk because I took French in college instead of Spanish. I am a born and raised Oklahoma girl, and no, there weren’t any teepees on my street, just mobile homes. I live in a charming little section of Houston called The Heights with my husband Drew and our benevolent dictator, Truman the cockapoo. We are the type of people who run major household decisions by our dog.
In case you’re wondering, Peine is pronounced like “PIE” and “KNEE”. Taryn is pronounced like Karen, with a “T”, and Drew is just the past tense of draw.
Thanks for stopping by, and if you don’t like what you read, come back tomorrow because I’m a lot like the weather in Oklahoma. If you don’t like me today, wait a minute. I’ll probably change.

Helloooo Taryn,
Frank here – Bertie’s husband. Bertie has been talking about your site since you went live and I’ve been meaning to check it out. Well I have and I LOVE it…both funny and informative. That tomatoes and herb tart looks delicious if it’s anything like that turkey dressing recipe that you gave us, I’m down to try it.
Take care T, and please tell Drew I said hello.

Hi Taryn- Ran accross your blog and I love it! I definately look forward to reading more… it’s interesting to hear about life in Houston/Oklahoma. I work for an OKC based company and we have an office in Houston as well, I have this idea in the back of my head that someday I’ll transfer from good old Canada.
Keep up the bloggin’!

OMG! Your writing is hilarious. It reminds me of Erma Bombeck. Awesome work, Taryn. Look forward to reading more.
P.S. We actually learned about your blog from one of our neighbors who was standing in the street with us at 2:00 AM watching the house on Nashua burn down.

Hi Taryn! Random question, I was reading your rant on cards and saw that you bought the corny one saying ‘I’ve been wading my whole life for you.’
Where did you find it?? The little boy on the card is boyfriend…He was model as a kid and I’ve been looking for that for the longest time! Haha.
Thanks a bunch!

Taryn, You are delightful and I am so impressed with your blog and so excited for you about your upcoming arrivals! I am a good friend of your Aunt Sandy’s and she pointed me in this direction. She is so happy for you both and shared your news with me. I know you don’t know me but I live in B’ville and your Dad knows my Dad. Keep up the great work in both writing and sewing/knitting!

Came across your blog today on Freshly Pressed, and reading through your old posts had me laughing out loud (though trying to keep myself quiet while at work!) I have to say that I love the posts with dialogue between you and your husband–so real and spot on to the dynamic between you, I can definitely relate. Keep up the good work, I’m looking forward to reading more.

Hi sweetie, I am a 72 year old gran from South Africa and heard of your blog through my daughter Karen, who lives in Australia. Which brings me to the question. We pronounce her name CAR-en as in motorcar. If this be the case, do you pronounce your name
TAR-yn? I don’t think so. Love you and yours anyway, and as I have just broken my arm and am unable to dive, will be spending leisure hours reading all about you, Drew and Truman. If you want to find him (Truman) a new home when your littlies arrive, how about with Granny Gwen in South Africa????

Googled “gruene hall onesie” and got something so much better–your blog! Hysterical, lovely, dry wit. You can’t buy that–unlike a gruene hall onesie. I laughed and laughed at your stay at the god-awful b&b. Much like my last vacation-before-kids with my hubby to some ranch on the frio river. Dear Lord. I karaoke’d “Bobby McGee” at their nightly camp-fire sing-along. Twas the highlight of the trip. Congratulations on your site, I’ll keep checking back for more humor. By the way, you and your husband are just as cute as can be.

Taryn, the nursery is adorable. You did a great job! The blog is sooo much fun. I hope you’ll have some time to post after Henry and Amelia arrive! Ah, but that’s what grandmas are for! Sue is over the moon..maybe we’ll get to see her in 2012! Good luck next week…thoughts and prayers are with you!
